Slow News Day
Last week, I was on a work call when suddenly the building's fire alarm went off. I ended my call, grabbed my house keys and headed outside to see what was going on. Apparently, in the unit directly behind us (and connected via a shared wall), the cable guy had stepped on and burst a water pipe which sent water cascading down the side of their townhome, along our shared wall.
I was commenting on how that sucked for the people in that unit when the management company comes flying over to my place saying I needed to check for water damage. As soon as I opened our garage (aka lots of boxes of storage), I see a steady stream of water pouring out of our garage. This was quite uneventful for a 7-months pregnant woman who can't lift any heavy boxes or really add any value in this situation, so of course I called my husband.
While this event is newsworthy for us, we didn't really think it would be newsworthy to the greater Orlando area, but apparently we were wrong. As Matt was mopping up the water in our garage (the leak was stopped with virtually no damage to our things), Channel 9 news showed up in our driveway. Sure enough, we turn on the 11pm news that night and there's Matt, mopping up our garage for about 3 seconds on the Orlando news.
We've only been here two weeks, but apparently have made an impact on the Orlando area. We expected water damage from a hurricane in June, not from a water pipe bursting in January, what a first couple weeks in Florida! We're trying to figure out how to post Matt's 3 seconds of fame to the blog, but have been unsuccessful so far.

Sounds like you've had quite a welcome to FL - - hope you are coping well, and glad the weather hasn't been too hot!
Now that you're a celebrity, can you get me in to Disney for free?
You're famous! Hopefully all your stuff is okay.
